Washma Khan Washma: A Poetic Voice of Love, Pain, and Imagination

Wishma Khan, widely known in literary circles as Wishma, is a young Urdu poet from Mardan, Pakistan. Although she spent a significant part of her life living across several countries in the United Arab Emirates, as well as in Moscow and Romania, her emotional, cultural, and literary roots have always remained deeply connected to her homeland, her city, and her people.

Wishma’s poetry reflects a rare blend of imaginative flight, emotional delicacy, originality, and freshness. Her verses are not merely expressions of romantic love but deeply introspective explorations of pain, longing, self-discovery, and existential awareness. Living abroad enriched her poetic vision with themes of displacement, nostalgia, and inner solitude, yet her language and sensibility remain profoundly Urdu.
